Foods that promote good men's care include those high in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, tuna and sardines. Lycopene-rich tomatoes benefits, too. What you should not eat is also important. Avoid foods that your gland hates such as red meat, dairy, wheat, fried foods and sugar. You also need to drink well. Stay hydrated, and limit your alcohol consumption to no more than two drinks per day. Drinks like green tea and cranberry, which are both also available in supplement form, are beneficial as well.

In Step One above, we recommended increasing your intake of omega-3 essential fatty acids for better men's care. At the same time, you should be reducing your intake of inflammation-producing omega-6s, typically found in vegetable-based cooking oils, such as safflower, corn, sunflower, and soybean. When shopping for a quality omega-3 product, look for one that has been purified or molecularly distilled to remove toxins.

Foods to avoid

Red meat

Bad news, BBQ lovers: separate studies have linked both red meat and very well done meat to an increased risk of men's issues.Cutting down on your meat intake and eating more fruit and veg appears to slow the enlargement of the gland.

Milk

There's some (disputed) evidence to suggest that excessive calcium intake increases the risk of men's problems. Calcium remains a vital nutrient for your body's wellbeing, so you'd be well advised not to do away with that bowl of milky porridge in the morning.

Cheese

A recent study linked diets high in saturated fats to aggressive problems. The same study also found that men's risk was significantly lower if their diet included more polyunsaturated fats (commonly found in fish and nuts).

Beer

Sorry gents, but your favourite brew is off the menu if you want a small and healthy prostate long into your Autumn years. Both hops and yeast are believed to have a harmful effect on the gland.
